Ferris's Story

Barks and Meows Rescue introduces Ferris. He is the brother to Sapphire, whom we took in from a local shelter after they were found abandoned, along with their other two siblings. These siblings are not purebred but about 80% Malinois. They have medium hair coats and Ferris is about 50lbs, the larger of the two.

Ferris has matured nicely and has kept to his predicted medium sized build. He loves to play chase with the other dogs and gets along extremely well with his sister. He is a medium energy boy, not bounced off the walls, like a pure Malinois. His breed mix suits him and will fit any family who has the time and interest in exercising him outdoors with games that make him think, He has continued to train easily and is very smart and focused. He is a talker when plays with other dogs. He definitely has inherited the prey drive from the Shepherd in him so a cat free home is a must. He will do fine as an only dog. He is crate trained but currently uses it only when he eats. Being outside with his foster family makes him very happy. He does not have a high level of endurance, which we see as a good thing. He still will require a job to do, perhaps agility or scent training exercises could be a really fun family event.

The ideal home for Ferris is one where she is socialized with people on a regular basis. This breed is a fabulous family dog whose loyalty will be demonstrated all the time. We are looking for a family that will take him to obedience classes to continue his socialization and keep his mind active. This breed requires a job to do so stimuli involving thinking tasks on a daily basis is very important. He is agile and a climber and due to his breed, a chain link fence would not work for him.

Ferris is up to date with vaccines, de wormed and will be microchipped prior to the adoption. The adoption fee includes her neuter at the West Lorne Animal Hospital once he reaches 1 year of age. He is on heartworm flea tick medicine as well.

Thank you tohttps://www.facebook.com/heidikflavienphotography for showcasing Sapphire's beauty.

Visit barksandmeows.ca for an online application.
