Fern's Story

Meet Fern, the feisty little firecracker who’s ready to zoom into your heart and home!
This adorable 2-month-old female puppy (medium-sized, mostly black with some white markings) was picked up from Wichita Falls Animal Services and is now in foster care with Texas Pit Crew, our all-volunteer, foster-based rescue dedicated to helping pups in Wichita County find loving forever homes.
Fern is a bundle of high-energy fun! She’s super playful and loves racing around the house, playing with other dogs (she’s got a blast with furry friends!), and exploring the backyard. After all that zooming, she melts into the sweetest cuddler—often napping right on your thighs, content and cozy.
She’s already showing her smart side: she responds to her name, comes when called, and has the most polite way of asking for what she wants—she quietly sits at your feet until you notice her for a pet or a snack. One of her cutest quirks? She follows you to the bathroom to “guard” you while you’re in there—talk about loyal!
This little lady is still a puppy, so training is very much in progress: house-training, crate-training, and leash skills are underway. She loves chewing (puppy teething stage!), so plenty of appropriate toys will be a must. She’s great with new environments, handles car rides well, and is comfortable with both men and women. When left alone, she can get a bit anxious, so an active family who can provide companionship, routine, and exercise would be ideal. A home with a yard for playtime would be perfect, though she’s adaptable.
Fern is current on her vaccinations and medical care, microchipped (as part of the adoption process), and comes ready for her forever adventure. She’s not old enough to be spayed yet, so the adoption includes a $75 deposit (refunded after her spay appointment).
Adoption fee: $165 (covers shots, rabies, bordetella, microchip, and spay/neuter). For young puppies like Fern, total upfront is $240, with $75 returned post-alter.
If you’re looking for an energetic, affectionate companion who’s equal parts playful zoomies and snuggly naps, Fern could be your perfect match! She’s suitable for first-time or experienced owners in an active household.
Ready to meet this special girl? The adoption process: Step 1: Complete the Adoption Application. You can request an adoption application via email. Once complete the form can be emailed back for review. You can always pick a adoption application at any of our events. Step 2: We will review completed applications, do reference and fence checks, as well as a home visit, if needed. Please remember that adopting a pup is making a commitment of 10-15 years, so we do not take any shortcuts in processing applications. It is our responsibility to place these pups in the very best homes we can possibly find for them. Step 3: When your Adoption Application is approved, we will schedule a time for you to meet the pup that just might be the newest member of your family. ***Please remember that we are an all-volunteer, foster based rescue organization. We do not have a public shelter facility, so all meetings for potential adopters and fosters are done by appointment only. *** Step 4: After the mee
