Ferdinand's Story

Ferdinand

Vaccinated for Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella. Neutered and microchipped. Tested for vector-borne illnesses. Current on flea, tick, and heart worm prevention.

Ferdinand is a 1-year-old, 11-pound male Jack Russell Terrier/Chihuahua mix from Tijuana who recently made his trip to New York City! Ferdinand is an affectionate, spirited, and charming little guy who wins over everyone he meets.

He has adjusted wonderfully during his time in the city and has truly embraced New York life. Ferdinand loves long walks around the neighborhood, meeting new friends, and soaking up all the sights and sounds the city has to offer. Most of all, he absolutely loves his people — he's happiest right by your side and will gladly accept all the cuddles you're willing to give. He adores affection, loves being held, and is always ready to curl up close after a fun day.

Ferdinand listens well to basic commands and is eager to please. He is somewhat housetrained and has had minimal accidents since his first day in foster care. He's been doing a great job sticking to his routine and continues to improve every day.

He knows how to walk nicely on a leash and truly enjoys his city strolls. While he can get high-energy and bouncy when he's excited (especially when greeting people or gearing up for playtime), he balances it out beautifully with cozy nap breaks and downtime.

His forever family will need to continue reinforcing the great progress he's made with training and routine, but he's a smart, attentive pup who thrives with consistency and love.

Ferdinand loves being cozy with his foster family and can often be found curled up nearby after playing with his favorite toy or a tennis ball. Ferdinand will need a bit of time to get used to being left alone as he has a bit of separation anxiety, but is working on it and eventually settles nicely.

Ferdinand is looking for a somewhat active household that can include him in some daily adventures, while also appreciating his affectionate, snuggly side. He enjoys both lively moments and relaxed downtime. He would do well either as a solo dog soaking up all the attention or in a home with another friendly dog to play with. Ferdinand has done well with kids and would be suitable for a home with or without children!

If you're looking for a loyal little shadow who will shower you with love and keep life fun, Ferdinand might just be your perfect match!

To apply to adopt Ferdinand, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for a foster application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.

Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.

Questions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org
