Felix's Story

While searching for our I-55 interstate pup (#sdfMilesThomas) in the Cooper-Young area, one of our leaders came across this skinny little boy, and we couldn't just leave him behind. It seems like maybe the universe wanted us to find him too.
He is an absolute sweetheart who loves Crunchy-Os, so we were able to get him scooped up and assessed. We got this sweet boy checked out at Grace Animal Hospital! His finder gave him the perfect name, Felix, after the place where he was rescued.
Our vet estimates Felix is around 8 years old, and there's great news: he's heartworm negative! The concern, however, is that he's severely malnourished, weighing in at just 20 pounds. Given how underweight he is, our vet recommended holding off on all vaccines except rabies for now, as his body simply isn't strong enough to handle them safely yet.
From the moment we met him, Felix has been an absolute gem. He passed dogs and cats at the vet without so much as a second glance, nothing but gentle, calm, and sweet through it all.
He's now headed to a foster home with the very person who rescued him. We couldn't think of a better place for him to start his journey. We'll keep everyone updated as he settles in and begins putting on some much-needed weight.
This sweet old man is adjusting to life off the streets in his foster home and doing great! He loves his outside time, but also loves the fluffy dog bed life too!
He's still VERY underweight and will need to gain some lbs, but he's otherwise healthy and available for adoption! Dog, kid, and cat friendly! Curmudgeon grandpa vibes, but in the best way.
Check out #sdfFelix on Facebook or Instagram or streetdogfoundation.com/pup-profiles/felix for more information and pictures!
*Behaviors not listed have yet to be tested.
