Fanny's Story

🐶 Basics
• Dog’s Name: Fanny/Fantasia
• Age / Size: 4-6 years old /medium ~30lbs (could still stand to lose a few!)
• Rescued from Texas where her previous owner passed away

💛 Personality Snapshot
• Describe in 3–5 words: Silly, Sassy, Persnickety
• Energy level (Low / Moderate / High): Low
• More people‑oriented or independent? Gets attached to certain people and sticks close to them
• How do they handle new situations?
Food and treats will always help keep Fanny calm in new situations. She can get overwhelmed and become standoffish until she feels comfortable.

🐕 Social & Home Life
• How are they with people (adults/kids/new people)? Okay with the certain people she has become attached to. New people definitely take time, but sometimes Fanny will automatically like certain people right off the bat (hence persnickety description). I would not suggest her in a home w/ children.
• How are they with other dogs? Good w/ my resident dogs and other fosters coming in. She likes to show new dogs she is the boss of her bed.
• Cats or other animals (if known)? Unsure about cats
• Behavior when left alone or when guests visit:

When left alone Fanny has to have another dog friend with her or she will be sad. But if she knows another dog is with her she will just snooze most of the day (small bit of separation anxiety). Helps if she has a snack and keep the lights low and some music playing.

🎓 Training & Manners
• Potty trained? Yes
• Crate trained? No
• Leash skills: good (some dogs will make her a bit feisty when passing bye, but it’s all just a show)

🌞 Daily Life
• Typical day with you: A day with Fanny is very relaxed. During the week when I go into work. I take her out potty. Then get her set up in the room with my other dog. Give her a small amount of food. She will sleep all day until her foster dad comes home. Then it's up on the bed she goes to lay right next to him. When i get home from work she gets the zoomies and will hop around and roll over for tummy rubs. Then She will have dinner and go potty in the evening. And then if it's a day to go for a longer walk we will do that after dinner. And end the day cuddled up in her bed. The weekend are very similar she loves to come up on the bed right next to her foster dad and will be happy there all day!
• Exercise needs: Fanny has lost about 5.5 lbs since she arrived. Once she gets going walking she enjoys it. We go for a longer walk a few times a week to help continue her weight loss journey! Or to the dog park if it's not crowded. She also likes to walk with her Foster sister.
• Favorite activities or toys: Laying next to her foster dad on the bed. She loves her stuffed guitar toy! Getting treats

🌱 Growth Areas
• Anything they’re still working on? Still working on weight loss, and meeting new people
• What helps them succeed?
Fanny is very good motivated

🏡 Ideal Home
• Only dog / With dog / Either: needs another dog in the home
• Good fit for apartment living? Apartment is perfect
• Best type of household (active, moderate, calm): Calm
• What kind of adopter would be the best match? Someone who has another dog for sure. Is a homebody but it's willing to go out and exercise with Fanny (either walks or the dog park if there aren't alot of dogs there) someone who is experienced with dogs that can be a little particular about who and what they like 😄 Someone that doesn't have very many visitors over or travels much. Bonus points if they work from home because Fanny would love that.
Fanny knows what she does and doesn't like and that's what makes her FANNY!

💙 Foster Note

I love how silly Fanny is. Since she has lost weight she is more playful and it's so funny to see her hop around. She loves to roll around on her back too and do a little wiggle dance! When she gets fiesty she will play with her guitar toy.
Fanny has many quirks! I guess she could be described as quirky. She likes what she likes and sometimes it's surprise if she likes something or not. Whether it be food or a person. It's up to Fanny to decide. She will bark and grumble at random sounds or things on tv or songs posting on the radio or people walking by. Don't know why. Only Fanny knows the reason 🤣

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
To adopt Fanny, apply on our website www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt and email adopt.truenorthrescue@gmail.com to follow up on your application.

PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. True North Pet Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy
First Step: Submit Your Application True North does not issue blanket approvals, we consider the needs of each specific dog when reviewing applications. If you don't have a specific dog in mind when applying, please note this on your application so that we can keep this in mind when reviewing. We require home photos for all applicants, but can accept a video replacement. Please enter as much detail as possible on your application, this helps us better understand what you are looking for and how this relates to the needs of the dog you have applied for. For puppies under 12 weeks, we require a care plan. This includes a plan for when the dog will be left alone, as puppies younger than 12 weeks should not be left alone longer than 2-3 hours at a time. Please Note: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it is not always possible to reply to everyone. If your application is approved, you can expect the following. Second Step: Application Review & Approval 1. If your application is approved, an email will be sent connecting you with the dog's current foster. At this time, you may schedule a mutually convenient time to meet. 2. After meeting, you have 24 hours to confirm if you would like to move forward with finalizing the adoption. After this, if we have not heard from you, we will begin scheduling other meets. 3. If you choose to finalize, we will issue an adoption contract via email. Once the signed agreement has been electronically returned along with the adoption fee (which will be disclosed prior to adopting), you will be all set to coordinate for pick-up with the foster! Adoption Fees: Our adoption fees are comparable to those found amongst other well-known rescues in the city. We only accept electronic payments for adoption fees.
