Faith SF's Story
Meet Faith!

***Happy Update from A Volunteer!***

FAITH - Volunteer Notes

"From the moment I met her, I knew Faith was an Angel Dog. She's the kind of dog who steals your heart instantly."

I spent time with Faith this week, and she truly is one of the sweetest souls I've ever encountered. She LOVES treats, cuddles, endless petting, and soft dog beds - pretty much in that order - and she made our lunch outing feel like the calmest, happiest moment of my day.

Faith sat next to me so politely while I ate, completely content and patient. She's never pushy, unless she wants some affection, and then she'll gently lean her whole body into you like she's trying to melt into your side. It's the most endearing thing. If you're open to it, she gives soft little face kisses too - she even posed under / wore a mistletoe for me, which fits her holiday-angel vibe perfectly.

She met every person we passed with joy, had zero dog reactivity, and radiated this quiet, loving energy that made her an absolute dream to spend time with.

Faith is the type of dog who would fit into any lifestyle - apartment, house, quiet home, busy home - as long as she has what she wants most: love, hugs, soft beds, and a human who adores her back.

She is the best girl, a total heart-stealer, and someone is going to be unbelievably lucky to bring her home.

This adorable young mixed-breed pup is one of 32 lucky dogs who came to us from our incredible rescue partners across Mexico-including Cancun, Mexico City, and San Felipe in Baja California Sur. This pup's journey covered lots and lots of miles, all leading her here to the Pacific Northwest where these pups can now begin settling into temporary foster care and getting the chance to rest, decompress, show off her sweet personality, as well as to start learning some new things!

This pup and their fellow travelers are now ready to meet their forever families! If you've been waiting for your chance to welcome a rescue pup into your home, don't miss out. Submit an online adoption application through our website to learn more, arrange a meet-and-greet, and take advantage of our flexible 3-7 day in-home trial to make sure it's the perfect match.

Will you be this pup's lucky new hero?

steps to adopting

(OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS ARE IN SEPARATE TEMPORARY FOSTER HOMES BETWEEN BEND/CENTRAL OREGON AND THE GREATER PORTLAND AREA. THEREFORE, MEET AND GREETS ARE NOT DONE AT OUR FACILITY. TO LEARN MORE, PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR ADOPTION APPLICATION ONLINE AND OUR ADOPTION PROGRAM MANAGER WILL REACH OUT TO YOU WITH FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO MEET YOUR NEW PUP!)

The first step to adopting a dog from SDH is to complete the adoption application. First click on the "OUR DOGS tab up above, and then click on the orange colored "Fill out an Adoption Application here" button to start the process). Once submitted, please expect 3-5 business days or sooner for processing and to hear back from us. Once you are pre-approved, your adoption application will remain on file with us for 1 year and it can go towards multiple adoptions within that 1 year time frame before it expires.

To finalize an adoption you must sign the adoption contract and pay the full adoption fee. The adoption fee helps cover our costs. On average, per dog, it costs SDH between $500-$700 for vetting/medical/sterilization, transport and other rescue related expenses. All dogs are rescued and do not transport to SDH until they are healthy and ready to be adopted. All dogs are examined by a veterinarian before they fly, which includes sterilization whenever possible, given standard vaccines and rabies (if age appropriate). Most dogs are sterilized before they come into our program, however if this is not the case we will spay/neuter them once they arrive at our cost.

Upon their arrival, all dogs are seen for a wellness exam by SDH's medical team. Once the adoption is finalized, any further medical care or treatment will not be covered by SDH, unless discussed prior with our medical team. All known issues are disclosed to the best of our ability prior to finalizing the adoption.
