Faith's Story

Meet Faith!

Faith is a 50-pound bully mix who came to FMAR after surviving on her own as a Sumpter stray. One of our dedicated volunteers had been keeping a watchful eye on her for weeks, patiently earning her trust. When Faith finally made her way to safety, it was clear she had a loving heart tucked beneath her fear.

While Faith first presented as shy and calm, she has blossomed into a much more vibrant, energetic girl than we initially realized. As she's grown more comfortable during her stay with us, her playful, high-spirited side has truly come out. She loves racing around the yard, tossing toys in the air, and channeling her energy into fun, active play.

Faith is also incredibly intelligent and eager to work alongside her people. She thrives when given a job to do and absolutely loves using her brain. She's been introduced to scent work games and picked them up quickly, showing just how focused and trainable she can be. Once you're part of Faith's trusted circle, she wants nothing more than to learn, engage, and make you proud. Because of her intelligence and drive, she could be an amazing match for someone interested in continuing training, enrichment activities, scent work, or other dog sports.

Faith is a dog who takes relationships seriously. She isn't the kind of dog who meets someone once and immediately becomes best friends. New people can be difficult for her, and she needs time, patience, and the freedom to move at her own pace. The people who know Faith best didn't earn her trust by rushing her-they earned it by showing up consistently, respecting her boundaries, and allowing her to decide when she was ready.

Because of this, Faith's future adopters should expect to visit her multiple times before bringing her home. Building trust with Faith is a process, not a single meet-and-greet. The good news? Once you're in her circle, you're really in.

When Faith loves you, she loves you completely.

She'll greet you with hugs, gently rest her head on your chest or shoulder, and look at you with the kind of devotion that's hard to put into words. She has become a favorite among many of our volunteers not because she gives her heart away easily, but because when she does, it's something truly special.

Faith needs an experienced, patient adopter who understands canine body language and is committed to helping her continue building confidence. She would thrive as the only pet in the home and has shown us that a home without children is the best fit for her. She isn't looking for a busy household full of visitors and activity. Instead, she'd love a home with one or two adults who appreciate the deep bond that comes from earning a dog's trust.

Faith has spent over a year waiting for her person, and we know they're out there somewhere. She may not be the dog who wins everyone over in the first five minutes, but for the person willing to invest the time and patience she deserves, Faith offers something truly remarkable: unwavering loyalty, endless affection, and a bond that runs incredibly deep.

If you're an experienced dog person looking for a smart, devoted companion and are willing to let a relationship grow naturally, Faith may be the one you've been waiting for.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you would like to meet Faith, please submit an application for her on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. She is spayed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $250, which covers part of the medical care she will receive.

**Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth.
Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.
