Faith's Story
Meet Faith!

Faith is a 50-pound bully mix who came to FMAR after surviving on her own as a Sumpter stray. One of our dedicated volunteers had been keeping a watchful eye on her for weeks, patiently earning her trust. When Faith finally made her way to safety, it was clear she had a loving heart tucked beneath her fear.

While Faith first presented as shy and calm, she has blossomed into a much more vibrant, energetic girl than we initially realized. As she’s grown more comfortable during her stay with us, her playful, high-spirited side has truly come out. She loves racing around the yard, tossing toys in the air, and channeling her energy into fun, active play.

Faith is also incredibly smart, focused, and eager to learn. She’s been introduced to scent work games and has picked them up quickly—she truly thrives when given mental stimulation. When she’s engaged like this, she is completely locked in with her person. Because of her intelligence and drive, Faith could be an amazing match for someone interested in continuing training or even exploring more advanced work with her.

Faith is a dog who takes trust seriously. She’s selective about the people she lets into her circle, but once you’ve earned her confidence, she becomes deeply loyal and affectionate. She will give hugs, rest her head gently on your chest or shoulder, and look at you with the kind of love that’s hard to put into words. It’s no surprise she’s become a favorite among our volunteers—her bond with her people is truly something special.

Because of this, Faith needs an experienced, patient handler who understands canine body language and is committed to setting her up for success. She would thrive as the only pet in the home and has shown us that a home without children is the best fit for her. She’s not a big-family dog, but she could be the perfect companion for one or two adults who can give her both the structure she needs and the snuggles she loves.

Faith’s one-year anniversary with us is coming up in May, and we can’t quite understand why she’s still here. She has one of the biggest hearts of any dog in our care, and in the right home, she will absolutely shine.

If you’re an experienced dog person looking for a deeply loyal, intelligent, and affectionate companion, Faith may be the one you’ve been waiting for. She’s ready for someone who truly sees her—and is willing to meet her where she is
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you would like to meet Faith, please submit an application for her on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. She is spayed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $250, which covers part of the medical care she will receive.

**Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth.
Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.
