Once out of his kennel, he walked nicely to the play yard.<br/><br/>Affiliation: Warmed up once in the play yard, would come towards the evaluator for attention and a toy to be thrown.<br/><br/>Treat Taking: Takes treats gently, but will drop some and not eat them.<br/><br/>Body Handling: Nervous of handling and will run away, but when on leash, was able to pet back and top of head. <br/><br/>Toy Arousal/Guarding: Really loves to play with toys. Will play with a toy and bring it to you to share. Will drop one toy for another. Likes to play tug with rope toy. <br/><br/>Arousal: No jumping or mouthing noted, he can be a bit timid of fast movements<br/>toward him.<br/><br/>Food Guarding: Not interested in eating during evaluation.<br/><br/>Assessment<br/>Young, playful dog who loves opens up when toys are involved. He can be timid of<br/>handling and a frontal facing approach but shows no signs of aggression with people or<br/>other dogs.<br/>Recommendation<br/>1. Basic obedience skills to better prepare for placement into new home such as<br/>name game, sit, down, stay, etc.<br/>2. Confidence-building exercises such as touch and find it.<br/>3. Take him out daily as he needs socialization with the different aspects of the shelter<br/>environment.<br/>4. Would suggest leaving the drag leash on in the play yard while building connections with staff, as he tries to run when trying to get the leash back on him.<br/>5.
