Erie Humane Society's Adoption Policy
Potential adopter must fill out an adoption application, we verify that any existing pets are spayed/neutered and up to date on all shots, then verify that they can have a pet at their location either by verifying their ownership with their county assessors office or by contact with landlord to verify their pet policy, all members of the homes names are then checked against the the cruelty and caution databases. Once their application is approved, they are asked to come in and view our adoptable animals , once they find one that they like, they meet them in a private room with one of our staff members or volunteers, if all goes well and they are adopting a dog, they are asked to bring in their existing dogs for a meet and greet. Cat adoptions do not need to bring in their existing cats, but they can if they would like to. If all goes well when their pets meet their perspective pet, then the adoption application process is completed and they take their new fur-ever pet home.
