Ethel's Story

Loves life's simple pleasures: sneaking up on recliners and sofas for naps (some new pictures below), being outside, enjoying a bone

If you believe that age is just a number and that true beauty comes from the heart, you’ll want to meet our lovely Ethel! This 10-year-old chocolate Lab is a true survivor! Ethel was found (presumably dumped) in a ditch on a busy road. A concerned citizen took her to the shelter where she was in danger of being euthanized because of overcrowding. Now safe in her foster home, Ethel is ready to show the world that senior dogs have so much love to give. Ethel weighs 76 lbs, is affectionate and low maintenance. She would prefer a home where other pets let her have her space as she can be picky about who she likes. Ethel gets along with cats and is house and crate trained.

Ethel is a “frosty-faced” beauty with a gentle, enduring spirit. While she is partially blind and deaf, she doesn’t let that stop her from enjoying life’s simple pleasures. She navigates her world with grace and is looking for a patient, loving home where she can feel secure and cherished. Since Ethel does not see well a home with no stairs would be best.

Senior Labs like Ethel often have the most loyalty and affection to offer. If you have a soft spot for the “frosty faces” and want to provide a peaceful sanctuary for this sweet girl, please consider adopting this senior girl. She is fostered in Indianapolis.
*************
Adopting a Lab can be a wonderful experience. Your new dog will need lots of love, adequate exercise and attention. Keep in mind that dog ownership may include additional costs for training, grooming, and health care beyond annual vaccines and monthly preventatives. It’s a lifetime commitment!
