Esther's Story

Meet Esther - From Surviving the Streets to Searching for Home

Esther or as her Foster calls her, Essie, was found as a stray alongside her assumed brother, roaming in the summer heat-dehydrated, hungry, and desperately in need of help. We later learned that the pair had reportedly been seen abandoned around a local store for a couple of months, somehow surviving on their own.

Despite everything she has been through, Essie is incredibly friendly, social, and full of love. We believe she may have once been part of a family because she is potty trained and clearly comfortable around people. She gets along great with other dogs and absolutely loves to play! Barks and chases cats so needs to be adopted by a cat free family.

Essie is still a puppy herself, so she'll need a family committed to providing a consistent schedule, continued training, and plenty of love. She's currently working on keeping all four paws on the ground when greeting people-but she just gets so excited because she loves people and wants to shower everyone with affection!

Essie is around 36 pounds, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. We don't expect her to get much larger, though she may fill out a little as she continues gaining some much-needed healthy weight. She has a sleek blue coat and gorgeous blue eyes.

After spending months just trying to survive, Essie deserves to know what it feels like to be safe, loved, and truly home. Could you be the family she's been waiting for?

Apply to adopt Essie at hsdavie.org/dogs
