Esmeralda's Story

~ A FIGHTER’S JOURNEY TO LIFE AND HOPE

She was found tied up outside a home, left to fend for herself and her puppies. Despite everything she’s been through, she’s shown incredible resilience. She had been “living” outdoors with a family who provided little care, and her situation was clearly heartbreaking. Someone reached out to us for help, and we stepped in to give her and her babies a chance at a better life.
She has visible scars along her back and body—large, significant marks that tell a story we may never fully know. We can’t say for certain when or how she got them, or if they were caused by the family she was with, but it’s clear she experienced some form of abuse in her past.
After routine vet testing, she was diagnosed with distemper. Although she initially showed no symptoms, the virus is highly contagious and her puppies had already been exposed, so they all received the best possible care. Sadly, Claire, Richie, and Sydney left this world too soon despite all efforts. Esmeralda continued to fight and, after a long battle, she overcame the virus. She does have a slight neurological tick that will remain, but we don’t see it as a flaw. It’s simply part of her story and a lasting reminder of just how strong and resilient she is.

Esmeralda is about 2 years old, weighs around 19.5 kilos, and is a beautiful mixed breed.

Because of her past, any nervousness or hesitation she shows is completely understandable. She simply needs time, patience, and a safe space to feel secure and let her true personality shine.
Esmeralda has made an incredible recovery and is a sweet, gentle soul. It’s clear right away how much she loves people—she’s a total cuddle bug who happily soaks up affection and will curl up right beside you. Her soft, loving nature makes her easy to fall in love with.
That said, the world can still feel big and overwhelming for her. She’s a sensitive, sometimes nervous pup who is learning that she’s safe. She’ll need a patient, understanding home—someone willing to go at her pace, celebrate small victories, and help her build confidence over time. With kindness and consistency, she will truly blossom. She does well with other dogs, both big and small, and a calm canine companion could help her feel even more secure. It’s been especially rewarding to see her start to open up through play—she’s discovering toys and learning how to have fun, and that spark is just beginning to shine.
She’s still working on basics like house training and leash skills, so her future family should be ready to continue guiding her with patience and encouragement. Rainy days can be a bit challenging for potty breaks, but she’s trying her best and will improve with support. At night, she settles well in her crate and sleeps comfortably, which is a great foundation for her routine. Esmeralda is looking for a calm, loving home where she can feel safe, move at her own pace, and continue growing into the confident, happy dog she’s meant to be. With a gentle heart and a little patience, she will give back so much love.
Esmeralda’s adoption fee is $550, which includes her flight, spay, vaccinations, and full vetting.
