Ernie's Story
Hi, I’m Ernie
Confident explorer. Loyal protector. Fetch champion.

I’m an energetic, affectionate girl who loves being part of the action. Whether it’s playing fetch (I bring the ball back every time—no negotiations), lounging with my family for snuggles, or keeping watch over my yard, I take my role as a family dog very seriously.

I adore my people and am happiest when I’m included in daily life. I love pets, cuddles, and being close to my humans, and I settle beautifully when left alone—as long as I have a cozy space, a window to watch the world go by, and a predictable routine. I sleep well in my crate or x-pen and handle downtime like a pro.

I’m active and outdoorsy and would happily spend all day outside if allowed. Walks are exciting for me—I pull, stop to investigate, and take in everything. A big fenced yard would be a dream come true, especially one with space to explore (and maybe a few squirrel-watching perches).

Now, the important honest part: I’m a protective, territorial girl. I’ve shown that I don’t want to share my space with other dogs in my home, particularly larger dogs. While I can meet dogs outside just fine, I need to be the only dog in the household. I’ve also had one incident where I nipped a babysitter entering the home during a stressful moment, likely driven by protectiveness and heightened emotions.

Because of this, I need a home with clear structure, confident adults, and no unfamiliar people suddenly entering my space. I would do best with a family who understands boundaries, is willing to manage introductions thoughtfully, and appreciates a dog who takes guarding her home seriously. I’m not a fit for dog parks, shared living situations, or frequent visitors without a plan.

I’m playful and mouthy when excited, especially during rougher play, but I respond well to redirection and love having toys and games to channel that energy. I’m very food motivated, smart, and eager to engage—I just need consistent guidance to help me make the best choices.

My ideal home is a single-dog household with a secure yard, an active family, and people who want a loyal, involved companion. I’m deeply loving, endlessly entertaining, and incredibly devoted to my people.

If you’re looking for a dog who will be your shadow, your fetch partner, your yard supervisor, and your loyal best friend—and you’re ready to meet me where I am—I promise I’ll give you my whole heart.

Love,
Ernie

Ernie was born approximately November 2022 and is a large dog.
