This handsome, resilient boy loves deeply and completely, and once he trusts you, his loyalty is unmatched.<br/><br/>Enzo came to Mikaela's Mutt Motel on February 19, 2025, after a concerned citizen intervened in a heartbreaking situation. For most of his life, he was chained to a tree with a metal choke collar, left to endure freezing temperatures with only a doghouse for shelter, often without proper bedding, food, or unfrozen water. Because of this difficult past, Enzo can be cautious when meeting new people. But once he realizes he's safe, his whole personality shines through and the sweetest, most devoted companion emerges.<br/><br/>Enzo has a fun, playful side and enjoys chasing a ball or playing tug, but he's just as happy curling up next to his favorite person on the couch. He has excellent crate manners and is a smart, food-motivated boy who loves to learn, making him a great candidate for continued positive reinforcement training.<br/><br/>He has done well with other dogs and has been non-reactive around new dogs and people. Because he previously showed some resource guarding, Enzo should be fed separately from other dogs to keep mealtimes calm and stress-free. He has also done well around cats, though he does have some prey drive, so careful introductions are recommended.<br/><br/>Enzo loves kids, but his enthusiastic greetings can sometimes be a little overwhelming for smaller children.<br/><br/>Enzo is looking for a patient, understanding adopter who will give him the time and space to settle in and continue building trust.
