Emmett's Story

*Fostered in Alexandria, VA*
---->>>> https://www.foreverchangedar.org/adopt-a-pet!

Hi! I'm Emmett! I've been in foster care for almost 6 months now. I'm 1.5yrs old and don't look very big but I'm super solid and weigh 60lbs. I hope you'll read my story but in case you're just browsing through, let me give you a quick rundown...My foster mom says I am THE perfect dog. I love kids, dogs, cats, you name it. I go quietly into my crate but will happily sleep in bed with you. I'm super gentle and also pretty quiet. I'm also house-trained.

My must-haves: Another dog friend and a yard. A patient family.

Things I'd love to have: A human sibling aka child to be my best friend, a kitty that loves dogs.

I do terrible at meet n greets because the outside world is still super scary to me. Can I come to your house to meet you? Or maybe you'd consider trying me on a 2 week trial just so you can see my true, wonderful personality! I arrived with my brother Elliott and sister Piper from North Carolina where we were the result of a hoarding house and neglect case. Elliott eased into the new world quickly, and was adopted before my sister and I. I promise I have so much love to give just as Elliott and in time I’ll be super outgoing like him! We were all found practically naked due a skin infection and also had demodex mange that was caused as a result of our weak immune systems. A kind lady from the rescue knew that we didn't stand a chance at the shelter being adult dogs who were scared and not very appealing to the human eye. Within a week, we were posted to the euthanasia list and this kind lady said we deserved a chance!

I looked the worst when I arrived and was so incredibly shut down. I’ve never known love or a kind hand. My body was covered in scabs and I looked like Dobby from Harry Potter. I only knew humans to not be nice so I was pretty shut down and only wanted to hide and pretend I didn't exist. It's been months now and I'm learning that there are good humans in this world. My favorite person is a 9yr old child. Children give me comfort. I'm still a little head shy but if you allow me to lay on your bed, I forget my fears and will lay next to you. I love, love, love belly rubs. My foster mom says she loves when I forget being scared because my face lights up and I give the cutest tail wags. I'm also super food driven, so if there's anything that gets me to come to you, it's treats or feeding time!

I currently live with a cat, a tiny little kitten, and many dogs that come and go as my foster mommy is always helping dogs like me. I'm the most gentle boy there is. The little kitten jumps on my face and I just lick her. Sometimes the big kitty whacks me if I'm too close and I just slowly will scootch away. I love playing with all of the dogs. I didn't know how to play before but they've taught me how to have fun! They even recently taught me that going for walks is the best thing ever! I still get a bit scared with loud cars and noises but I’m super easy to walk and with a great dog friend and guide, I’ll make quick progress.

I'm still super shy at first but I hope you'll trust my foster mommies word, that I really am the full package. She says that if someone is willing to be patient with me, they will be so glad they chose me. I am house-trained and crate-trained. I went potty in the house 1x and I was so embarrassed I refused to come back in for hours! Well, I gotta go but I hope you choose me!!!

If you think I'm the perfect new guy for your home, and you live in the MD/NoVa/DC area and are looking for a loyal companion who will love you deeply and bring comfort to your home, apply now at:
---->>>> https://www.foreverchangedar.org/adopt-a-pet!
