Emmalou's Story

Three small female dogs, Emmalou, Tator, and Tot, were surrendered due to a household crisis involving frozen pipes, flooding, and furnace failure. All three were originally dropped off at the owner's rural home as unwanted animals; the owner attempted to rehome them without success. They are approximately one year old, small in size (15-20 lbs), and described as friendly with people and other dogs. No known bite history was reported.

No known medical issues were disclosed. They are crate-trained and sleep in crates at night. They will go outside to potty, but still have occasional indoor accidents and will use pads. They were allowed outside off-leash.

The dogs know a mix of basic cues-some fully, some still learning-including sit, down, drop it, recall, gentle, load up, car, bed/crate, and shake/paw. They enjoy treats of all kinds, watching TV with their owner, and playing with stuffed toys (though they tend to remove the stuffing). They jump on counters but respond to being told to get down. No possessive or aggressive behaviors were reported.

They were housed with other dogs and are comfortable with men, women, and children. Their experience with cats is unclear.
