Emma's Story

This beautiful and sweet little girl is Emma and she's a Lab mix who is 1-2 years old. She's just 35 pounds but could use a few more pounds on her so all healthy treats are welcome. She has a beautiful white coat with some golden highlights with the kindest eyes as you can see in her pics. She has a lovely personality and demeanor and truly just wants to give and receive love. She's great playing with other dogs and is always respectful and easy going with them. Everyone she meets loves her and the feeling is mutual. She may be a bit timid when she first meets you but warms up quickly once you show her kindness and give her some good pets. She's smart and treat motivated so she will be a sponge learning new tricks. Emma is healthy, up to date on all her vaccines and housebroken. She's a beautiful girl and we're going to find her a wonderful home because she deserves it. Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) to get more information on this sweet girl and ask for some videos of her meeting other pups.

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes.   What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
