Emma's Story

Breaking News: Local dog named Emma has been accused of excessive goofiness, illegal levels of cuteness, and demanding pup cup stops while fulfilling her duties as passenger princess. She denies all allegations.

Emma is a mixed breed about a year and a half old who just so happens to be deaf, which basically means she has selective hearing... all the time. Singing completely out of tune? Didn't hear it. You opened ANOTHER snack? Also didn't hear it. Doorbell? Never heard of her. Vacuum? Still suspicious.

What Emma does notice are treats, car rides, and other dogs who are ready to enter the wrestling ring. She would love a home with a dog her size who enjoys full-contact play sessions that sometimes look like a WWE pay-per-view event (don't worry—it's all in good fun).

When she's not practicing her wrestling moves, Emma is an elite passenger princess. Put her in the car and she's ready for adventure, especially if a pup cup is involved.

Emma's other hidden talent? Being the cutest sleeper ever. Her snoozing face will make you stop, whisper “oh my gosh,” and take approximately 47 unnecessary photos. Just check her foster parent's camera roll for proof.

She'd thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time. Emma is a social girl who thinks long periods of being alone are highly overrated. She's crate trained, so if you do leave, a Kong filled with goodies keeps her happily tucked away enjoying some peaceful alone time.

Emma is on anxiety medication to help her feel her best and does show some resource guarding around food and high-value items like bones or Kongs, but only around other dogs, not humans. That's another reason she loves her crate—it's her personal snack sanctuary!

Because she's such an enthusiastic gal, Emma would do best in a home without small children (she may accidentally knock them over in play) and probably no cats. A fenced yard would be a dream so she can spring around like the happy goofball she is, but it's not required if she gets plenty of exercise and playtime. She would also do best in a home without shared walls—she can't hear her own bark, and when she has an opinion, she expresses it loudly.

Emma is still learning hand signals and communication, but she's a smart girl who loves to learn. Deaf dogs are amazing at reading body language and routines, and Emma is ready to form a strong, loyal bond with her person or family.

Life with Emma includes wrestling matches, pup cups, adorable naps, and the occasional loud bark—but mostly, it's a home filled with love, laughter, and a little chaos (the good kind).

Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional's recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal's history is often unknown. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption.

The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Request Form prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. For the most complete information regarding this animal, and all of our adoptable pets, please ensure you are visiting our website directly at www.RescueCrew.org. You can also access the necessary online forms here as well.

The Rescue Crew's Adoption Policy
Thank you for your interest in adopting a pet through The Rescue Crew! Your desire to provide a loving forever home to a rescued animal helps us in our shared goal to “Save a Life Today.” We are a completely volunteer-run, foster-based rescue, which means all of our animals live in home environments—not kennels—while they await adoption. This allows us to learn as much as possible about each pet’s personality, preferences, and needs so we can help make the best possible match for both the animal and the adopter. Our adoption process may take a little time, and you might notice we ask a lot of questions. That’s because we want to ensure a lasting and happy match for everyone involved. There are no “right” or “wrong” answers—these questions simply help us guide you toward the pet who will fit best with your family, lifestyle, and expectations. Many of the animals who come into our care have faced hardship, uncertainty, or even the risk of euthanasia. Our mission is to give them a second chance—and to place them in loving, responsible, lifelong homes where they can finally feel safe and secure. If you see an animal you’re interested in, please submit an application through our website at www.rescuecrew.org/adoption-basics as soon as possible. Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt, but it will help ensure your place in line for that animal—or another pet who might be a perfect match. Thank you for choosing adoption and for helping us continue our lifesaving work. Together, we’re giving hope and homes to animals who need them most.
