Emerson's Story
Emerson arrived at the shelter utterly terrified, alongside her puppies who were just as scared as she was. Her babies were fortunate enough to leave with a rescue, where they could be socialized and rehabilitated while they were still young. But Emerson was left behind.

When her time began running out, we knew her story couldn’t end simply because she was afraid.

Emerson can’t tell us what happened before the shelter or why trusting humans feels so difficult. All we can do is give her the time, consistency, and safety she needs to learn that people can be good.

And underneath all that fear? Emerson is an incredibly easy little roommate.

She is dog and cat friendly, fully potty trained, crate trained, quiet, low-key, and absolutely loves a routine. She knows when it’s time to head into the backyard, comes right back inside, loves curling up on the couch, and will never let you forget when mealtime rolls around. Think less “high-maintenance dog” and more house cat who happens to barely bark.

Emerson is still learning how to navigate the human world. She is not currently comfortable walking on a leash, so a fully fenced yard is required. We would also love to see her adopted into a home with another confident dog who can continue showing her the ropes and helping her build confidence.

Emerson isn't looking for someone who needs her to become a different dog overnight. She needs someone willing to love the dog she is today while giving her the space to become whoever she is meant to be tomorrow.

If you already have a dog who needs a low-maintenance best friend, a couch that could use another occupant, and a heart for the dogs who need a little extra patience, Emerson might just be your girl.
