Elton - Adoption Pending's Story
Elton / Male / 4 months / approx 39 lbs / Mixed Breed / Good with Dogs & Kids / Untested with Cats / Local Surrender / Fostered in Toronto

Meet Elton! This little pup came to Fetch + Releash at just four weeks old alongside his siblings. As you'd expect from a puppy, he's a ball of rambunctious, curious, and adorable energy. He loves to eat, play, cuddle, and nap, and he'd love to do it as part of your family!

We'll give you the big puppy disclaimer later on, but for now, let's focus on the good parts of puppy ownership. This guy is cute as a button, with his white chest and spot on his forehead. He's also very friendly and outgoing in the way that all puppies are. Everyone is just a friend Elton hasn't met yet, and he'll come bounding up to everyone with the expectation of treats and fun.

Elton’s foster family describes him as affectionate, curious and attentive. He'll come up and sit beside you, looking up with those puppy dog eyes, ready for hugs and pets. In young pup style, Elton loves to play fetch, run in the park, chew toys, and watch the world go by through the window. After he gets his puppy energy out, Elton loves a good nap. You can find him sleeping almost anywhere, but cuddled up with his people is his favourite spot.

While Elton doesn't require a lot of space now, the potential size of the breed usually means it'd be a good idea to have a backyard, or live near a nice dog park to give him proper exercise. Elton is making great progress with his leash skills. He doesn't naturally pull, but will a bit if he sees people or another dog. Loud city noises can make him nervous, but he listens well and is gaining confidence.

Elton is potty trained, settles quickly into his crate, and sleeps through the night without issue. Ongoing obedience and leash training are recommended. Elton also absolutely loves playing with other dogs and would have no problem being the second pet in a household.

ABOUT YOU!
Puppies are a lot of work. At just 4 months old, we are looking for families who have FLEXIBLE work schedules and the time and energy to invest in socialization and training. Yes, Elton is tiny and oh-so-cute, but we can pretty much guarantee that he will:
-Pee and poop on your floor
-Chew your furniture
-Eat your designer handbag
-Ruin your leisurely Sunday morning sleep-in

As a condition of the adoption contract, their new families will be required to:
-Ensure they have an opportunity to go outside every 2-3 hours. If you work full-time, this means hiring a dog walker to come in 2x per day for a puppy visit.
-Attend and complete a basic obedience class at your own cost (proof required).
-Provide plenty of socialization opportunities – both dog and human – it's important at this stage.
-Spay/neuter them within 6 months of adoption. If done at our partner vet in Mississauga, the spay/neuter will be included in the adoption fee. If you choose to do it elsewhere, it will be done at your own cost. Proof of spay/neuter is required to finalize the adoption.

If you’re interested in adopting Elton, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form

Elton’s adoption fee is $1000.
