Ella's Story

Meet Ella!

Are you looking for a petite cattle dog that'll gaze lovingly into your eyes and stay velcroed to your side? Then you found your dream dog!

Ella was dumped at the shelter pregnant, left to raise her babies in a chaotic, terrifying environment for 5 weeks. Despite this, she loves everyone she meets (even men and children), and is the perfect combination of gentle and playful. She can be shy with other dogs at first, but has done great with every introduction, eager to please.

Ella is crate trained and housebroken. She loves food, and is very smart. She forms very strong bonds with her handlers, and enjoys walking on a loose leash. She does well in the car, and would love a family that could take her on adventures.

She has met both cats and roosters on leash: she shows non-aggressive interest, but may want to chase or herd. She called off them easily and continued walking on a loose leash. She has much stronger drive with deer, but still does not drag you on leash.

5 is the perfect age to adopt a cattle dog: all the love and play of a heeler, with the calmness of a mature dog.

Mamas are always forgotten about! Let's find her a loving family just as quick as her babies: she truly deserves it.

To apply for Ella, please request an adoption app at herdinghomerescue@gmail.com

Her adoption fee includes all her vetting, vaccines, spay, microchip, and optional (free) professional pet photoshoot.
