Eliza's Story
Meet Eliza! She came to us from Animal Rescue Corps (Operation Tiny Titans) after they rescued her from a hoarding situation. She was in pretty rough shape- very emaciated, furless from flea bite dermatitis, and muscles wasted. Her fur has started growing in nicely and she is becoming more and more mobile as the days go on. She started her healing journey with us, but we think she is ready to move forward to her next chapter- healing in a home of her very own where she will get spoiled rotten and slathered with love. She is very fragile and keeps to herself mostly - not seeking out attention from people, which breaks our hearts. She is very docile and easily held and cuddled, but she doesn't seem to really crave that yet. Just a little independent lady!

Eliza is guesstimated to be around 10 years old, but the age estimate isn't an exact science and with the condition she was in it makes it even more difficult. She weighs under 3 lbs, but she is still underweight. She is toothless and has a weak bottom jaw. Her liver values were elevated on her initial bloodwork and exam, but with the introduction of a liver supplement we saw a decline in the elevation after a few weeks of the treatment. She is getting another recheck in December and we hope to see even more of an improvement. For the immediate future she will need to be maintained on this supplement, which must be compounded due to her tiny size. Her mobility isn't fantastic, but she is able to get around pretty well. She is on a daily dose of gabapentin, which has definitely helped with her mobility. She loves her time sniffing and exploring in the yard (weather permitting). She does well going to the bathroom outside but will also go inside - sometimes on the pads and sometimes not. We would not trust her around balconies, stairs, etc. as her eyesight doesn't seem to be the best and we fear she could fall and hurt herself.

We are looking for an amazing retirement home for her without much commotion and with another small dog that can keep her company. Her and Mildred (another dog from the same home we got) like to cuddle in bed together. While we don't believe they are bonded, they definitely like the company of another dog. If you are open to 2 dog- we think Eliza and Mildred would do great together.

Eliza's adoption donation of $250 helps cover the cost of her medical care. If you wish to adopt Eliza and Mildred together, their combined adoption fee will be reduced to $450.

Adopters must live within a 1 hour driving distance from Romeoville, IL. Reference checks, vet checks, and home visits required. We do not do same-day adoptions. Email us with any questions info@perfectpooches.org. The application to adopt can be found under the "Adoption Process" tab on our website www.perfectpooches.org.
