Elbie's Story

Meet Elbie 🐾

Elbie is 15 pounds of fun-sized personality! At around 6–7 years old, this adorable little guy is our best guess at a Pekingese/Dachshund mix, and whatever mix he is… it made one seriously cute dog.

Elbie has never met a stranger. He loves people, enjoys playing with other dogs, and is always ready for a snack (food is definitely the way to his heart). When he’s not playing, he likes to take short naps to recharge — often upside down like he doesn’t have a care in the world.

One of Elbie’s funniest habits is that he’ll run in front of you and flop over for belly rubs, just in case you forgot he deserves them. He also has a sweet little white blaze on his chest and a tiny white spot on one paw that make him extra charming.

Elbie enjoys playtime with dogs his size, treats, toys, and Benebones (puppy size are his favorite). He would do great in a home with other small dogs and/or kids who want a playful little buddy.

Elbie does well crated overnight and when his people leave, though he may let you know he’d rather be part of the action if you’re home. Because he’s a curious little guy who likes to explore and occasionally chew on things he shouldn’t, crating when unsupervised keeps him safe and out of trouble.

A securely fenced yard is important for him, and because he likes to chase things that run, Elbie needs a home with no cats.

His best qualities are easy to see — cuddly, playful, mischievous in a fun way, and incredibly cute. He’s the kind of dog that will make you laugh every day and keep life interesting.

And if you ever catch him sleeping on his back with his little paws in the air, just know he’s completely comfortable and living his best life. ❤️

🐾 Adoption Info:
All of our animals are fully vetted, which includes spay/ neuter, up to date on vaccines, wormed, heartworm tested and treated if necessary, up to date on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and microchipped prior to adoption.
Our requirements are non-negotiable and include the following:
All current pets in the home must be spayed or neutered if over 6 months of age, unless there is a documented medical exemption with veterinary confirmation.
All current dogs must be up to date on Rabies and Distemper/Parvo (DHPP) vaccinations.
All current dogs must be on consistent, consecutive heartworm prevention.
Past dogs listed on the application must also show a consecutive history of heartworm prevention.
To start the adoption process, please fill out our application here:
Dog
Please also take a moment to read our requirements located in the application.
Please note:
The dog you're applying for might already have a meet-and-greet scheduled, be on a trial with another family, or has been offered to another rescue within our network Don't worry though - we're always happy to help you find another great match if that happens!
