Edith's Story

As the temperature begins to drop again, we got a plea to help a heartworm positive and “extremely emaciated” senior hound that found herself at a rural animal control with little to no protection from the elements Worried about how she’d fair with no body fat to keep her warm, it didn’t take long to decide that she was about to take a roadtrip! Everyone, meet Edith

We knew she’d be thin, but she’s shockingly so in person. Truly skin and bones. Easily a girl that should be 45-50 pounds, Edith weighs in at barely 34 pounds. She arrived covered in grime, ticks, feces, and open wounds but her tail never once stopped wagging We don’t deserve dogs!!!

Edie’s got a long road ahead but we cannot wait to give her the serious TLC that she so deserves. She’s going to know love, warmth, and safety for what is likely the first time in her life, or at least in a very long time. She’s never going to miss another meal or want for anything ever again. Welcome to the Swamp, Edie. We are so happy to have you.

Edith is looking for a foster home to recover in! Please reach out for more info.

Swamp Haven Rescue's Adoption Policy
When you adopt a dog from Swamp Haven, you’re not just saving a life. You’re beginning a journey filled with love, loyalty and trust. Life can be busy and stressful. The companionship of a dog is a constant reminder to slow down and enjoy the little things. At Swamp Haven, our mission isn’t to just help down-on-their-luck dogs find their forever homes. Our mission is to create a lasting relationship with you and your family. Adopt happiness. Our adoption process is unique in that we work with you every step of the way to ensure that we’re placing the right dog with the right family. First, chat with us about what you’re looking for in a dog and we will set up a time for you to meet the lucky pup. From there, fill out an application. Once reviewed we set up a time to bring your potential pup to your house for a home visit and trial week. We want to make sure it’s the right fit for both your family and the dog involved. We will be totally available during the trial week for any questions or concerns. The last step is to finalize the adoption. And then congrats, you’re a new member of the Swamp Haven family and your happy tail has just begun! Our adoption fee is $400
