Ebony's Story

Ebony was brought to the Charles City County shelter as a stray. She was so quiet and mellow and we were so crowded at the time that she was transferred to Gone to the Dogs. She has been with us for a year or so. We don’t know what happened to her face, whether this was the result of some kind of long ago trauma, or whether she was born that way, but once you get to know her, it becomes one of her many charms. Ebony is going to be a super low maintenance companion. She is totally house trained and she is also a stick at home dog. She can be let out without a fenced yard and she will go out and take care of business and then come right back in. She also ignores our rooster and guinea hen when she is outside. She loves her food and while she is content to lie on her bed much of the time, she does have some playmates here and she loves to rough house with them as her food is being prepared so she does have her moments of energy. She is a really good girl who would love to have a wonderful home For the last part of her life. She is heartworm positive, but she has been on heart guard for at least a year and so she will probably come back with a negative heartworm test in another 6 to 8 months. She is in good health and we can expect that she will be around for some time to come. She is a really sweet dog that deserves a nice home.
