Dylan's Story

Say hello to Dylan, a beautiful 2-3 year old Shepherd mix who has a small frame for a Shepherd and is fully grown at just 50 pounds. He's a great dog and his medium weight makes him ideal for adopters who love the Shepherd breed but want a medium sized pooch. He's living with his Foster family in Farmingdale, Long Island and they will tell you that Dylan is the best boy! He's beautifully trained, walks great on a leash and knows his commands. He's a smart guy too who loves to play with all sizes of pups ....he's living with 3 other dogs in his Foster home- one who is 75 pounds and one who is 15 pounds and he loves them all. He's also living with a cat and pays no attention to him! He loves to play with puzzles and find the treats so he can show you how smart he is! He enjoys playing in the backyard with his friends but also loves taking snoozes in the backyard. He's very sweet and has a lovely mellow energy level too. He's totally housebroken and crate trained. All he needs is a loving adopter to cherish him forever! Reach out to Long Road Home (lrhrescue@gmail.com or call 516-459-3509) for more info.

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes.   What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
