Dylan's Story

Meet Dylan...

In the middle of the night, outside a crowded high-kill shelter in Florida, Dylan was left tied to a gate. Alone. Confused. Watching the dark road as cars passed by.

When staff arrived the next morning, they found him exactly where he had been left, waiting.

During the week he spent at the shelter while we worked out his rescue, Dylan would often walk back to that very same gate. He would stand there quietly, carefully watching every passing car, as if hoping the people who left him would return. It’s hard to imagine the heartbreak behind those eyes, but it’s even more remarkable that his heart is still so full of love.

Today, Dylan is safe with us, and he is everything you could want in a companion.

At 2½ years old and 27 pounds, he is the perfect medium size, big enough for adventures and small enough to fit perfectly beside you on the couch, which, by the way, is his favorite place to be. Please note that he is a lot SMALLER than he appears in his photos.

Dylan is incredibly sweet, dog-friendly, and cat-friendly. He would happily coexist with furry siblings, but if you’re looking for a devoted one-and-only cuddle partner, he would absolutely thrive soaking up all your attention.

He LOVES car rides, truly loves them. Say the word “ride,” and you’ll see his whole face light up. He also enjoys going for walks and exploring the world by your side. But at the end of the day, what Dylan wants most is simple: his person. Someone to lean into. Someone to trust. Someone who won’t leave.

Dylan has already shown us how deeply he can love. Now he just needs a family who will show him that love is forever.

If you’re ready to give this loyal, gentle soul the happy ending he deserves, please complete an adoption application on our website.

Adoption Info:
• Apply at https://www.heartsandtails.org/adoption-application
• Due to high inquiry volume, only applicants who appear to be a good match will be contacted.
