He's young, eager to please and always ready to join his person for the next adventure.

He's house trained, crate trained, great in the car and good on leash. Dutton loves playing ball and has proven himself to be quite the little social butterfly once he gets comfortable. He can be initially shy in new situations, but he warms up beautifully and has become a rock star at our busy community events.

Dutton has also been working on experiencing more of the world. He's tackled parks, playgrounds, pet stores, coffee runs and even Home Depot. Some brand-new environments can be a little overwhelming at first, but he looks to his people for guidance and adapts well.

Dutton is dog friendly and enjoys meeting people. Because he has a prey drive, he needs a home without cats, chickens or other small animals. We also recommend no toddler-aged children - not because he doesn't like kids, but because this enthusiastic boy can be a bit of a lovable wrecking ball and doesn't always realize where his body is.

He came to us in rough shape and has made an incredible recovery, blossoming into the happy, affectionate dog you see today.

If you want a best friend who will play ball, ride shotgun, explore SWFL with you and come home for a Dutton hug, this handsome boy is ready to meet you.

Doghouse Rescue Academy Inc's Adoption Policy
We require all people who are interested in our dogs to do an adoption application. It takes less than ten minutes to do on our online form and we get it as soon as you hit the submit button. We will get back with you once we review all applications. Once your application is reviewed, we will do a home check of your residence with the interested dog to see how they interact with your family and the environment. After your home has been approved, we could start your 14-day foster to adopt trial. During this trial, we will provide you all the supplies (food, crate, training, vet appointments, etc.) and we will test the waters to see how you and the dog will do on your own. If after the 14-day trial your family and the rescue feels you are a compatible match, then we will complete the process with an adoption contract and that is when you pay the adoption fee. ***PLEASE READ: Keep in mind, that because of our extensive adoption process and being a 100% volunteer-run group, we limit our adoptions to the Southwest Florida area (we do a home check, foster trial, meetups, etc.). If your application is approved, we will get back with you. We appreciate your cooperation and patience!***
