Dutton's Story

Meet Dutton - the floppy-eared philosopher with a playful streak

At 3 years old, Dutton has perfected the art of balance. One minute he's ready to romp and play, the next he's happily stretched out on the couch, soaking up family time while the kids watch TV. If there's a cozy spot nearby (preferably next to his people), that's where you'll find him.

His adorable flop-over ears and natural dark "eyeliner" give him a permanently thoughtful expression - like he's pondering life's big questions. (Mostly: "Is it dinner time?" and "Can I sit there too?") But don't be fooled by the soulful gaze - this boy has a fun, playful side and loves a good game when the opportunity arises.

Currently in foster care, Dutton is proving what a sweetheart he is. He does great withe kids and handles crate time well. He's even tried very politely to befriend the resident cat. While she has made it clear - with a swat or two to the nose - that she prefers her personal space, Dutton has taken the correction like a gentleman. He's curious and hopeful, not pushy, and continues to show respectful interest.

Dutton is past the puppy chaos but still full of joyful energy. He's the kind of dog who will happily join a family adventure and then settle in for movie night without missing a beat. Playful, affectionate, and wonderfully adaptable, he's ready to find a forever home where he can be both your adventure buddy and your professional couch companion.

If you're looking for a dog with charm, character, and the sweetest floppy ears around, Dutton is waiting to meet you.

Adoption Guidelines: We welcome responsible couples, families and singles. All adoptions require a personal meeting with the prospective adopter. We also faciltate long-distance adoptions. Out-of-town adoptions require a visit with a local agency who will screen on the HSHC's behalf. All animals are placed with the expectation of being indoors. We do not adopt to outdoor only homes. Dogs and cats are placed with the expectation they will become a permanent member of the adopting family and that adjustments to changes in life style will always include the pet. 3938 Barnes Mill Rd.
