Dutch's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Dutch, his three brothers and his sister were left alone when their owner died. They were rescued by a relative and taken to a shelter. Shamrock took all five dogs. Dutch's sister, Princess, and brother Brownie were adopted immediately. His brother Bear found a home about a month after getting out of the shelter. Dutch and his brother Teddy are still looking for their homes. The shelter listed the dogs as Pekingese, but we think they are some kind of mix. They're the perfect candidates for DNA testing, as we really can't tell by looking at them.

Dutch would do best with someone who is home most of the time or can take him along on outings, weather permitting. He would do OK with a calm, confident dog who doesn't care that Dutch really wants to be the center of your world -- making him an ideal only dog. He would love to share your bed but is not a fan of crates, either in the car or at home. We suggest a seat with a strap that secures him in by attaching to his harness.

Dutch is a lovely boy who deserves the best of homes, with someone or a family who will love him and give him a wonderful life.

PLEASE NOTE: We cannot adopt small dogs like Dutch to homes with pools that are not fenced separately from the rest of the yard.

If you're interested in adopting or fostering one (or more!) of our dogs, please complete our Adoption/Foster Application. Adoption fees are $250 per dog unless otherwise noted. Before our dogs are adopted, they receive veterinary exams, blood work and microchips. They are spayed or neutered, and any medical issues are treated. Most receive basic training and, if needed, advanced training (and our Adoption Counselor, Maryanne, is always willing to work with you on issues that might arise once you adopt).
