Dune's Story

8/18/26 - Found in Apple Valley in the vicinity of Central Rd and Bear Valley Rd. No microchip. LM ***** AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION 8/22/26 ***** Intact male ~3 yrs. old 67.3 pounds Vaccines given 8-18-26 No microchip ALT ID# 8-18-26 3 8/25/26 Nervous at times, walks on the leash but will buck if there is tension on the leash, gets spooked easily, wanted to be close to handler but also wanted his space. 9/3/26 - Dune is a very easily excitable dog with high energy. He can be forceful when he wants out of his kennel and has jumped on staff trying to push his way out. While on a leash he walks well and ignores the other dogs. He did have a slightly smaller female kennel mate for about 2/3 days and he did well with that dog. He loves to be pet but will get mouthy when you touch his hind end. Would recommend an experienced handler and due to mouthiness and excitability I would recommend a home with no small children. *****Animals are eligible for adoption by the public after their stray hold period. Rescues are permitted to pull on 8/25/26; animal is also legally available for euthanasia on this same date. AVAS will continue to follow the protocols in place for the health/safety of the animals in our care. The canine population currently in our care that are not showing symptoms will be posted on our website for public viewing. Canines will continue to be monitored by our medical staff under the direction of our supervising Veterinarian. Interested adopter(s) should email an adoption application to animalservices@applevalley.org or call 760-240-7555. Any current rescue partners or rescues interested in partnering with our facility are encouraged to contact us at AVASrescues@applevalley.org or call us at (760) 240-7000 ext. 7519 to coordinate rescue pull and transportation. *****
