He started off a little shy when he first arrived, but with some patience and kindness, he’s been opening up beautifully—now he’ll even come to the front of his kennel to say hello and take treats like a champ!<br/>Once Duke feels comfortable, his personality starts to sparkle. He LOVES a good hind-end scratch (seriously, it’s his love language!) and will lean right in for more. And when it’s playtime? Get ready—this boy goes wild for squeaky toys and plays with his whole heart. He’s also a great sport about trading toys for treats, which makes games extra fun.<br/>Duke has good doggie manners and was polite when meeting another dog, though he preferred to keep things low-key. He seems happiest doing his own thing or having slow, thoughtful introductions.<br/>He’s looking for a quieter home with older kids or adults who can give him the space, structure, and confidence he needs to fully bloom. You can take this pet home to try it out! Interested? Come to the shelter any time during open hours and talk to one of our Customer Care staff. <br/><br/>Be sure to check the "shelter information" box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Fairfax Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours!
