Duke Hazard's Story

Duke Hazard is a playful, affectionate 4 month old terrier mix that weighs 19 lbs. He is expected to be around 45-50 lbs when he is full grown. Duke is amazingly sweet, spunky, and smart. He finds every chance he can to crawl into his foster mom's lap for cuddles and naptime in between his play sessions. He has a way of entertaining himself with the simplest things, like chasing his own tail when there's not a toy nearby for him to play with. He has a calm, easygoing nature and adapts well to whatever his humans are doing. His go-with-the-flow personality makes him equally content joining in on outdoor adventures or relaxing at home by your side. He is quiet and knows how to keep himself entertained with his toys and chew bones, so he's the perfect pup to be by your side as you work from home. He adores people just as much as he loves playtime, so if you work in a dog-friendly office, he'd love to join you and make new doggy friends while you work. He loves to soak up all the attention, belly rubs, and cuddles he can get. He’s the kind of pup who can keep you laughing with his silly antics one moment, then melt into your lap for snuggles the next. Duke Hazard's ideal family would be a perfect mix of laid back and adventurous, enjoying time outside going on adventures one day and then having a lazy day cuddling on the couch the next. Whether its relaxing on the porch soaking up the sunshine or going on leisurely walks on nature trails, he's always happy to be by your side.

Duke Hazard is a low to medium energy pup, and needs short leisurely activities to help burn his energy a few times a day. He loves to play fetch in the backyard with his foster mom, play with his doggy friends, and stretching out in the grass to soak up the sunshine while he naps. After a quick nap, he's up and ready to continue on with his playtime. He loves to go on walks around the neighborhood walking trails, and would enjoy going on longer hikes as he gets older. He’s not a constant ball of energy, but rather a pup who enjoys activity in bursts followed by cozy rest time. Duke also loves going on relaxed walks along neighborhood paths and walking trails, taking in all the sights and smells at an easygoing pace. As he grows and matures, he’ll be a wonderful companion for longer hikes and outdoor adventures, especially with a family that enjoys exploring nature together. Duke is content as long as he’s spending time with his people, so whatever adventure they want to go on, he's always happy to join. His adaptable energy level makes him a great fit for families who want a dog that can keep up when it’s time to be active, but also knows how to settle in and relax for lots of cuddle time.

Duke Hazard is dog, cat, and kid friendly. He loves to play and cuddle with other dogs of any size and age. He is a social butterfly when it comes to making new dog friends and would benefit from having another playful dog in his forever home. He has learned proper doggy communication skills and boundaries from his older doggy friends, and takes correction well if other dogs communicate that they are tired of his puppy antics. He will scamper off to find something else to play with instead when he can't find a doggy playmate. Because of his young age and friendly demeanor, he would be able to acclimate to having a cat in his forever home. Since he is a goofy, playful puppy, he would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before as he is a puppy and will want to play with them. Duke would do well with kids of all ages. He loves to play and share his sweet puppy kisses with his foster mom's grandsons. He is very gentle and sweet, and would be perfect for a family with kids, but he is going to start teething soon, so his humans will need to keep a watchful eye on him to make sure he doesn't chew on human kid toys laying around. Since he is very sweet, playful, and affectionate, he would do great with a family with kids who want a loving pup to play and cuddle with as they grow up.

Duke Hazard is kennel trained, potty trained, and leash trained. He sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss, but enjoys a treat and some toys as he settles in. When he gets older, he would love to snuggle up in bed with his humans every night so he can get in as many cuddles as possible. He is doing well with potty training and knows how to use a doggy door to go out when needed. When the doggy door is closed, he will let his foster mom he needs to go outside by standing by the back door. He has a set schedule for potty breaks throughout the day and usually goes out every 4-5 hours, but will sleep throughout the night without needing to go. He walks well on a leash and loves to go on walks on the trails around his foster mom's neighborhood, but does get distracted if there are louder noises like lawnmowers or dogs barking behind fences. He will stop and investigate where the sounds are coming from, but can be encouraged to keep walking with a yummy treat or reassurance from his foster mom.

Duke Hazatd's ideal home would be a house with a fenced in backyard to play and sunbathe in. ideal home would be a house with a fenced in backyard to run around and play in. He would do well in an apartment, condo or townhouse and would prefer if his human either works from home or can take him into a dog-friendly office while he is still young. He would also love to go to doggy day care a few times a week if there are no other dogs in the home so that he can have some fun playing with other doggy friends. No public dog parks for this little boy because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. He would do love to have a family that has other dogs and kids, and would coexist well if there's a kitty in the home too. He does need to have someone home most of the day or that can take him into the office if working a hybrid schedule as he still needs frequent potty breaks every few hours. With his adaptable, laid back nature, Duke would be a wonderful fit for a variety of households. Whether you’re looking for a playful pup to join in on your adventures, or a laid-back companion to keep you company at home, Duke is ready to be your best friend, a fun partner for adventures, and a sweet snuggle buddy to end every day with.

Duke Hazard is in a foster home in Corpus Christi, Texas.
