Duke's Story

Duke is a big, handsome German Shepherd mix with an even bigger heart. This 108-pound gentle giant came to the shelter after his owner sadly passed away, and his wife was no longer able to manage his size. It’s been a big change for Duke, but he’s ready to start the next chapter of his life with a family of his own. Duke spent most of his life in an outdoor lot, so he hasn’t had much experience living inside a home yet. Because of this, his new family will need to be patient and willing to help him learn the ropes of indoor living. With time, consistency, and love, Duke has so much potential to become an amazing companion. Despite the changes in his life, Duke remains friendly, playful, and affectionate, even with children. He already knows the command “sit” and enjoys interacting with people. For such a big guy, he really just wants attention and time with his humans. Duke has not lived with other animals. What Duke truly deserves now is something he’s never really had — a warm home, a soft place to sleep, and a family to love him for the rest of his life. If you have room in your home (and heart) for a big dog who just needs a chance, Duke is waiting to meet you.
