Duke's Story

My name is Duke and I’m 8 yrs & 2 months years old. If you live an active lifestyle (especially one that involves walking and hiking) then I’ll be a great companion. I keep brisk pace so you don’t have to worry about falling behind or struggling to breath. I like to work out my muscles and I especially love playing tug of war with humans. And when you let me run off leash in a fenced back yard you can really just how fast I can run. I can not live in an apartment and must have a secure fenced yard. I’m a pretty smart cookie too. If you can hear me whimpering from another room, chances are I’m standing near the back door. That’s just me letting you know I need go outside to potty and get some fresh air. I can be a little picky when it comes to eating my food but that just because I know what I’m worth and will hold out for a sprinkling of tuna or some other special toppings to make it fancy. I know what the word "walk" means and even "car". I also listen to commands like "sit" and "shake". Not much stresses me out. You might hear me bark occasionally or even see me pacing and whimpering once and a while, but chances are there’s an emergency vehicle siren blaring a mile away. As a matter of fact I’m pretty chilled out. Whether your home or at work you can usually find me laying down on a piece of furniture napping or chewing on my bone, I love bones. And when you walk through the door I’ll come at meet you with tail wagging. I won’t jump up and down or even on you, but trust me, I’m very excited to be reunited. I’m part pit bull, but trust me, I inherited the best traits. You can pet, rub, squeeze, and pat me all over my body and I won’t freak out or get to excited. I know to be gentle with human touch and to save my energy for my toys. Everyone says I’m very well behaved and I know it and am proud of it! I get a little protective of my pack when trying to make new dog friends inside my home, but if get to know and play with each other outside beforehand I can be more open. I’m also learning to get along with cats. I can be curious and fixated and very vocal when in the presence of one but as long as you supervise me and remind me to give them space and leave them alone when they tell me I’ll obey. They’re just another part of the family to love and respect. I came to OFOSA with my sister Daisy after my mommy had to give us up in order to better help herself. My foster parents have helped make this transition so much easier and I’m so excited to bring love and happiness to my next family. To meet me fill out the Dog Adoption Application on their website OFOSA.ORG and my foster parents will reach out. I'm neutered, microchipped and up todate on my shots. My adoption fee is $340. Hope to meet you.
