Duke's Story

Meet Duke!

Duke is a handsome Chihuahua mix born August 27, 2016. At just 6.4 pounds, this little guy is easy to love and easy to have around.

Duke is a sweet, mostly quiet little guy who is perfectly happy being near his people. He'll bark when he wants your attention, but otherwise he keeps things pretty low-key. He hasn't discovered his love for toys yet, and he isn't especially playful right now. We think he's still settling in and showing us his personality a little at a time.

He gets along well with big dogs, little dogs, and cats. He isn't a picky eater, takes his medications like a champ when tucked into a tiny piece of Vienna sausage, and even tolerates baths without a fuss.

His foster family says Duke is an easy little dog who doesn't require much other than love, attention, and a little patience.

Potty habits are still a work in progress. Duke does well with a routine and reliably goes outside first thing in the morning, after meals, and before bed. He also uses pee pads, although he isn't 100% consistent yet. He currently uses a belly band when needed, especially when left alone or overnight. His future family should be prepared to continue working with him on his potty routine and give him plenty of opportunities to go outside.

Duke has not shown any mobility problems related to his previously noted patella issue. He is also being monitored for a skin issue and for gaining some much-needed weight.

We think there is a lot more to discover about this little guy as he becomes comfortable. For now, we know one thing for sure:

Duke is a sweet little soul who is looking for someone willing to give him the time and patience to blossom.

Gulfport, MS
Tired Dog Rescue

Tired Dog Rescue's Adoption Policy
Tired Dog Rescue adoption fee includes all sets of vaccinations, heartworm test, fecal exam, spay/neuter and microchip. We also recommend that you research the breed that you want to adopt. Ask yourself....Can you afford the cost of a high maintenance dog such as a Cocker Spaniel or Shih-tzu etc? The grooming costs are about 50.00 every 6-8 weeks. Are you in a position to adopt a puppy which will require training? Can you afford the medical costs that might be involved in adopting a senior pup? We want every adoption to be for life so please think about what you can and what you are willing to do before considering each pet. If you are unsure please contact us and we can help answer any questions.
