Duke's Story

Handsome Duke was found as a stray in Stanislaus County with a collar embedded into his neck. He was understandably nervous with handling and with these two strikes against him he was placed on the euthanasia list. As a rescue we were allowed to take him on and we are so glad we did. Duke is becoming quite the love. His neck is healing nicely, and he is learning to trust in leaps and bounds. Duke seems to really enjoy the company of people. He is also calm around other dogs, but would love to play. The previous shelter reported he is also good with cats and small dogs. Duke is on the younger side of being a senior and will need a quiet home that will meet his needs, both mental and physical. Walks, hikes and some fun puzzle toys will go a long way with Duke. We are enjoying watching Duke begin to shine like the diamond he is inside. He is going to make someone a wonderful and loyal companion.
