Duke's Story

Meet Duke! This boy is truly a special dog. About 1 year old, he’s gentle, loving, and full of heart—just a little shy while he figures the world out.

He can be skittish at first, but there is not an aggressive bone in his body. Once he feels safe, he absolutely thrives.

One very important thing to know about him: he needs a home with another dog. He bonds deeply and looks to other dogs for confidence and comfort. He’s very much a “little brother” type and is especially attached to his foster fur brother. Because he spent time alone and scared, having a canine buddy helps him feel secure and brave.

He’s learned so much just by watching his dog friend—how to play, how to bark (though he rarely does!), and how to enjoy life. He loves affection, enjoys being close to his people, and has great natural energy.

A few more things to love
-Mostly house trained (may have an accident if very scared)
-Crates well at night
-Great on walks
-Knows “sit”
-Rarely barks, very gentle
-Jumpy and playful—very Jack Russell–like

He’s a wonderful dog who will do best with patience, love, and another dog to show him the ropes.

If you have a friendly pup at home and a soft spot for a sweet, sensitive boy who just wants to feel safe and loved, he could be your perfect match.

If you are interested in meeting Duke, please email us at jerseygirlsanimalrescue@gmail.com.
