Meet Duke
Duke, the Loyal Giant
In a peaceful countryside, there lived a magnificent dog named Duke. He was a true gentle giant, weighing almost 100 pounds. However, people were initially nervous around him due to his size. Despite his imposing presence, Duke is loyal, strong, and sweet, with a heart of gold.
Recently, Duke's old farmer passed away, leaving him without a home. In the face of this heartbreaking loss, Duke found himself alone and abandoned by the farmer's family. His future was uncertain as he waited behind the bars of the city shelter, longing for a place to belong.
Just when it seemed like Duke's fate was sealed, Pets and People stepped in to save him. They saw beyond his size, recognizing his true nature. With compassion and determination, they rescued Duke from the city shelter, where he was on the brink of losing hope and his life.
Now safe in the care of the rescue organization, Duke's journey to find a forever family begins. He patiently waits, his loyal and sweet nature shining through. Duke yearns for a family who will embrace his strength and appreciate his gentle spirit.
The story of Duke, the loyal giant, is unfolding in the present. Each passing day brings him closer to finding a loving home where he can share his unwavering loyalty and gentle heart. The anticipation grows as Duke's presence captivates those who meet him.
And so, Duke's story continues, full of hope and promise. Will a family step forward to open their hearts and welcome Duke into their lives? Only time will tell as Duke's loyal and strong spirit remains steadfast, guiding him towards his forever home.
Duke would do best with a female dog buddy or as an only pet. Duke is crate trained, and potty trained. Our staff, with the help of a trainer, have also been brushing up on his obedience skills. Duke knows "sit," "lie down," "off," and "shake."
Like most Dutch shepherds, he is intelligent and a fast learner. He loves squeaky toys and will fetch it and bring it back to you. He will also sit, lay down and shake when offered a treat.
We think Duke is a wonderful boy that will make a great companion for your family!
