Duke's Story

Apply to Adopt Me!
At approximately 4 months old, Duke is in an ideal stage of puppyhood: full of energy and curiosity while already showing signs of intelligence and eagerness to learn. This possible lab mix responds when called, works for treats, and responds well to positive reinforcement. He is also currently undergoing potty training and crate training and sleeps through the night consistently. He would need leash training like any new puppy.

Duke is currently recovering from FHO surgery and will need a family willing to support his continued recovery and strength-building. Puppies typically recover very well from this procedure, and Duke has already shown impressive resilience throughout the process.

Duke enjoys people and does well with other dogs. He warms up quickly, seeks out human companionship, and prefers to stay close to his people throughout the day. He has plenty of typical puppy energy and especially enjoys toys, balls, sticks, and chew toys.

As with any young puppy, Duke is still learning manners and boundaries. He would do best around dogs with stable temperaments and patience for normal puppy behavior while he continues training.

Why he’s special:

He’s got a head start on training, a heart full of love, and a quiet, thoughtful nature that makes his affection feel earned and genuine. Add in his resilience, and you’ve got a pretty incredible little companion.

Since he still needs leash training, we are requiring a secure fenced yard for him. Duke will be adopted with a delayed neuter addendum, which means he will be neutered at a later date at one of our vet partners in the Orlando area and the cost will be covered by the rescue. His adopter will be responsible for dropping him off and picking him up. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you would be a good match for Duke, please complete an app and let us know more about you.
