Dude is wonderful with other dogs and has a friendly, relaxed play style. He enjoys chasing and a little wrestling with his canine friends but is overall a very easy dog to have around. Dude is potty trained, though he may occasionally mark if he doesn’t get enough time outside to fully empty his tank. He absolutely loves roaming the yard and taking in all the smells the world has to offer. Giving him plenty of time outside to explore helps him stay on track with his house manners. He is crate trained and sleeps well in his crate at night, but he’s also trustworthy enough to be left out. When given free roam, Dude simply lounges on the sofa and relaxes—no destruction, just a laid-back companion enjoying his downtime. Dude is incredibly gentle and sweet with people and would do well in a home with kids of all ages. His calm and easy personality makes him the kind of dog that kids could even help walk. With a medium energy level, Dude enjoys walks, exploring with his hound nose, and of course food—he is extremely food motivated and gets very excited whenever snacks appear. When he’s not out investigating scents, you’ll likely find him happily curled up on the couch. Because Dude loves to sniff and explore, a fenced yard is required so he can safely indulge his hound instincts. While he’s currently a very quiet dog, if he discovers his classic beagle howl someday, shared walls in an apartment wouldn’t be the best fit for him. Dude truly just needs the chance to be a hound and follow his nose. He would be an excellent candidate for nose work classes, where he could use his natural talents and have a great time doing it. With the right home that embraces his curious spirit, Dude will be a loyal, funny, and loving companion. Fetching Tails Foundation's Adoption Policy

1). All dogs listed on the website are currently available for adoption. We are volunteer-run and will do our very best to respond to your interest in one of our dogs within 24-48 hours. If you have not received a response by the 48-hour mark, please check your spam. 2). The decision to place one of our rescue dogs into either a foster home or adoptive home is not one that we take lightly. We reserve the right to deny any application and may not disclose the reason for denial. This decision is not made on a first-come, first-served basis, it is determined by who would be the best fit for our dog based on their personality in a foster home. 3). At times we have multiple applications on the same adoptable dog - and we reserve the right to stop accepting applications at any point when there is an overwhelming number of applicants for the same dog. This may be the reason you do not see the particular dog on our website or any partner websites, even after submitting an application. If an application is submitted, you should expect a response from us. Process Application – As a potential adopter, you will fill out and submit an adoption application. Your application will be reviewed by an FTF Volunteer, who will contact you within 24-48 hours of submission. Again, please check your spam if you do not hear from someone by the 48-hour mark. Meet If the application is deemed a good fit, the foster/volunteer will schedule a meet with the applicant and everyone in the household. All members of the application household, including dogs, will meet at a secured location decided by the foster and applicants. If a person or dog is over often, they are able to attend as well. Home Checks: After the application has been approved and the meet and greet has been done we will move forward with a home check. ** Please note, if you are in a rented home, we will be contacting your landlord for their approval prior to adoption. If the approval is not written in your lease, we will need written approval from your landlord. Contract If you are approved for adoption, you will be notified and adoption will be scheduled at one of two locations. You will fill out our adoption contract, which details our policies and procedures regarding the responsibility and care of the Fetching Tails dog. At this time you will receive proof of all vaccinations, the microchip number, test results, a rabies certificate, and any additional medical records, if necessary. Adoption Donation When you adopt a dog, you're not buying a pet. Your donation isn't a fee for your adoptee - it's a gift that helps us pursue our mission, save lives, and ensure we can provide care to all the dogs in our program. Senior dog. 8 years and up / $125 Adult or Young Dog. 6 months to 7 years / $375 Puppies. Under 6 months / $450 (Cash or check accepted only on adoption day) Care Provided At minimum, all Fetching Tails dogs receive the following: Fecal tests (and treatment, if needed) Age-appropriate Vaccinations Microchip, which will be transferred to you at the time the adoption is processed with our 24PetWatch chip Heartworm Test (and treatment, if positive) Spay/Neuter Surgery Flea & Tick Preventative (during the proper season) Heartworm Preventative (during the proper season) **Please note the following: 1). We are unable to make any guarantees of the future health, age, temperament, size, or breed of your adopted dog. 2). In the event that the adopter is no longer able or willing to care for the adopted dog, or the dog is no longer a “fit” in the home, the adopter understands that the dog MUST be returned to Fetching Tails Foundation. If the adopted dog is not returned to Fetching Tails, the Foundation has the right to subject a fine and if necessary, will take legal action. 3). Please read over your adoption contract carefully.
