Ducky's Story

Little Miss Ducky is a almost 2 year old pit bull mix. She is ready for her forever home!

Here's what her foster family says about her:

We have fostered a lot of dogs and have never been so amazed at one's resilience!

She came to us not knowing any commands and didn't have the faintest idea of what she was supposed to do.

In her first month with us she learned so many commands and adjusted to her environment. Since then, she has only blossomed into the coolest dog!

Oh and did we mention she is blind! But don't tell her because we are pretty confident she has no idea!

She loves to play, go for walks, explore new places, and loves, loves, loves to train for treats.

Her favorite game is tug-of-war and somehow she can play fetch, although she is too excited she found it to bring it back.

She is a great snuggler and loves to give kisses! She has her own bed which she does sleep in but every morning we do find her in the middle of us. It quite possibly is the best way to wake up.

She is potty trained, does good in a kennel, knows sit, lay, down (down stairs), up (upstairs), stay, wait, careful (when she is about to run into something, in front (alerting her to something ahead of her), left, still working on right lol

Ducky can be sassy and stubborn, but most of the time that just has us laughing at how funny she is.

She has lots of energy but is used to taking naps throughout the day. She has learned how to nap like a pro from her brothers, our two pitties.

Ducky would do great in a home with no dogs and older children. She has a hard time with dog introductions because she is blind. She is also a powerhouse puppy who loves zoomies so small children would be an issue.

She is insanely smart, has the best hearing we have ever seen, and has a nose you cannot hide from.

We love all of our fosters but she will always have a special place in our heart because of her story and how far she has come.

Whoever decides to give her a forever home is going to be so happy!

If Ducky could be the perfect addition to your home, please submit an adoption application on our websitre: furlovehaven.org.

** Please understand that we are a volunteer-run organization and we do our best to respond in a timely manner. Due to the high volume of applications, emails & phone calls we receive, we may be unable to respond to everyone.

The first step is to submit an adoption application.

We will review your application and you may be contacted if this animal might be a good fit.

Please be aware, submitting an application is not a guarantee, but if we think you might be a potential fit, someone will contact you within 72 hours.

Fur Love Haven's Adoption Policy
Adopters must be at least 18 years of age. Adopted animals may not be given away, sold, or traded, even as a gift to a friend or family member, or taken to a shelter without Fur Love Haven’s (FLH) prior approval. Adopted animals must be cared for in a humane and responsible manner and provided with clean and appropriate shelter, food, water, exercise, companionship and veterinary care. Animal will be indoors and will not be chained/penned outside. FLH recommends that the adopter has a veterinarian examine their adopted animal within 15 days of adoption. Adopters can return their animal to FLH within 15 days of the date of the adoption and FLH will refund the entire adoption fee paid. The adoption fee is not refundable after 15 days from the date of the adoption agreement even if returned to FLH. The adopter will ensure the animal is up to date on vaccines and notify FLH of any behavioral problems that have occurred before an adopted animal is returned. At the time of adoption, the animal will have age appropriate core vaccinations unless an FLH veterinarian recommends delaying any vaccinations for health reasons. If vaccinations were not completed and were due prior to adoption, an FLH representative will coordinate vaccines at the expense of FLH. Core vaccinations are DHPP, Bordatella and Rabies for dogs; FVRCP and Rabies for cats. The adopter is financially responsible for the animal (including boosters and subsequent vaccinations) effective the date of the adoption. A representative from the organization may make inquiries to veterinarians or visit the animal to ensure that it is well taken care of. If we find that the animal has been neglected or abused in any way or for any reason, we reserve the right to remove the animal from the premises. Attempts to remove the animal shall not constitute trespass at the property occupied by the animal. Upon removal, ownership rights of the animal automatically transfer back to Fur Love Haven. Adopters agree to immediately notify FLH of any change of contact information (address, phone number, or email address) or the event the animal becomes lost or dies. Adopters agree to notify FLH, without delay, if they can no longer care for or keep their animal and agree to give FLH reasonable time to rehome or place the animal in an approved foster home, if available. At FLH discretion we may approve a foster-to-adopt arrangement. An adoption is not final until confirmation is received in written form from FLH. At FLH discretion FLH may approve an adoption prior to the spay/neuter of an animal and a Spay/Neuter Agreement will be required. Adopters agree to be bound by the terms of the separate Spay/Neuter Agreement. Adopters agree that Fur Love Haven will remain as a secondary contact on the animal’s microchip registration with the phone number (971) 208-3881. Adopters agree to ensure proper licensing of the animal and compliance with all applicable local and state statutes. Potential Adopters authorize Fur Love Haven (FLH) to contact: Veterinarian(s) to check the care provided to previously and/or current pets, and to check the spay/neuter history; Property owner/managers to ensure permission to keep pets) on the premises; and Employer to confirm employment
