Duane's Story

Meet Duane

Hiya! I'm Duane — professional goofball, part-time zoomie champion, full-time good boy in training. I'm on the hunt for my forever home, preferably one with snacks and people who enjoy being adored.

I didn't have the best start in life. I lived outside in a small pen and was pretty skinny and missing most of my fabulous hair (rude, right?). But thanks to some amazing humans who gave me good food, lots of TLC, and medical care, I've had the ultimate glow-up. My silky black coat is back and better than ever, and I'm feeling SO good about life these days.

I'm about 5 years old (allegedly), but I act more like a 1–2-year-old who just discovered how fun the world is. I weigh just under 55 pounds and could stand to gain a couple more — I volunteer as tribute if you're holding treats. Speaking of which... I really love food. Like, a lot. The upside? I'm very motivated to learn when snacks are involved. Sit? For a treat? Absolutely. New tricks? Say less.

I appear to be some sort of doodle mix — a mystery blend of handsome and hilarious. With other dogs, I love to run and play and show off my slightly goofy side. I adore people and soak up attention like it's my job.

I would do best in a home without cats because I find them a little too interesting. While I will settle in a crate, I much prefer being out with my people. I'm working on my housebreaking skills and doing well when kept on a consistent schedule, and I'm starting to get the hang of leash walking now that I've realized it means adventure time — though some continued training would help me be my very best self.

Mostly, I'm just a resilient, happy guy who's thrilled to have a second chance. If you're looking for a loyal shadow, a walking buddy, and a slightly dramatic treat enthusiast, I might just be your perfect match.

Apply to meet me at www.bcaaofnj.org — I promise to bring the charm.
