Dua is a former street dog from Jamaica who lost her only safety net during the last hurricane. The shelter that cared for her was unfortunately destroyed by the storm, completely disrupting her life and leaving her without any reference points.<br/>Dua started out very fearful, but she is now making great progress. She has never lived in a house and will have to learn the basics of family dog life for the first time: routines, noises, indoor spaces, and trust in humans.<br/>Recently, Dua has started going on short walks on a leash, mainly in the yard to ensure her safety. With patience, consistency, and positive experiences, she should soon be able to go for walks outside. At this stage, Dua is still learning to move around confidently outdoors. For her safety, a fenced yard is highly recommended, especially while she continues to learn to walk on a leash and gain confidence outside.<br/>Dua is a sensitive dog who needs gentleness and consistency to feel safe. When she feels confident, she continues to open up a little more each day and shows a wonderful ability to adapt.<br/>Dua can live with another dog, but she tends to protect her resources from other dogs. Elle n’a jamais vécu en maison et devra apprendre pour la première fois les bases de la vie de chien de famille : les routines, les bruits, les espaces intérieurs et la confiance envers l’humain.<br/>Récemment, Dua a commencé à faire de courtes sorties en laisse, principalement dans la cour afin d’assurer sa sécurité. Avec de la patience, de la régularité et des expériences positives, elle devrait bientôt être en mesure de partir en promenade à l’extérieur. À ce stade, Dua apprend encore à se déplacer en toute confiance à l’extérieur. Pour sa sécurité, une cour clôturée est fortement recommandée, en particulier pendant la période où elle poursuit son apprentissage de la marche en laisse et gagne en assurance à l’extérieur.<br/>Dua est une chienne sensible qui a besoin de douceur et de constance pour se sentir en sécurité. Lorsqu’elle est en confiance, elle continue de s’ouvrir un peu plus chaque jour et montre une belle capacité d’adaptation.<br/>Dua peut vivre avec un autre chien, mais elle a tendance à protéger ses ressources face aux autres chiens. Une gestion de l’environnement sera donc nécessaire afin d’assurer une cohabitation sécuritaire et sereine.<br/>Dua a besoin d’un foyer calme, très patient et compréhensif, avec des adoptants prêts à respecter son rythme, à l’accompagner pas à pas et à célébrer chaque petite victoire.
