Drake's Story

Meet Drake!

Drake is a one-year-old Lab mix who came from a shelter in Virginia; he is quickly learning that he likes being a well-loved pet. Drake is about 50 pounds and is as sweet as can be. Drake is house trained and his crate trained.

Drake has done great with other dogs, but he would need a cat-free home. Drake is very shy at first but is a sweet and goofy boy who just wants love once he warms to you. He does best when he has company, whether that is with another dog or with his humans, he always wants to be right by your side.

Drake loves playing with his toys on the couch and taking naps on the couch. He does well playing alone with his toys and also plays well with another dog. Drake enjoys going on walks and is very well behaved on his harness and leash.

Drake has attempted to chew on a wooden table, desk, and chair, a sock, slipper, and a pillow. Although he is easily redirected back to chewing on his toys we would recommend keeping Drake confined to a small area of the home and supervised until he learns what he is allowed to chew on and what he is not.

Drake would do best in a calm home with a family who will be patient with him and give him a lot of love and help to build his confidence. We recommend that Drake’s new home have another dog. This will help Drake with his confidence. Drake does best when he gets in a moderate amount of exercise each day. It helps keep him calm in the house and he settles in his kennel better when he is well exercised.

Drake is pure joy and watching him come out of his shell and live life to its fullest will be a gift to his forever family!

Drake will be available for adoption on, or after, December 26th, 2025

If you are interested in Drake and are an approved adopter, please contact your Adoption Coordinator to be added to Drake’s list. If you are a not yet approved, you can find our adoption guidelines and application at: www.savealabrescue.org

Drake will be fostered in RI
