Draco #3's Story

Draco #3 is a four-year-old black Lab mix weighing 61 lbs. Draco is house trained, knows sit, down and paw! He is smart and has picked up on new skills and routines quickly in his foster home. He is a sweet, gentle boy once he feels safe. Unlike dogs that instantly offer affection, Draco is shy at first but once he builds trust, he will become an affectionate and loyal companion.

When Draco meets new people or encounters loud noises, he can be a bit unsure — he’s the kind of dog who prefers to take things slow and observe before jumping in. Because of this, he may seem standoffish at first, but it’s not because he doesn’t want affection — he just needs a little time to decompress and build trust.

Draco would thrive in a mature, low-key home with a family who understands that some dogs need time to feel secure. He also needs more time to adjust to males than females. Draco loves doing zoomies in his yard and then enjoys coming inside to be a couch potato and snuggle with his humans! In his foster home, Draco has relied on his canine foster brother for confidence. He also adores playing with him. Because of this, we are looking for a home with a playful, confident canine companion and would like a fenced in yard for playtime. When Draco encounters new canine friends on walks, he becomes very excited and needs reminders to be patient.

If you believe in letting relationships grow at their own pace and have room in your heart for a dog who needs reassurance and kindness, Draco could be the perfect match for you.

For additional information about Draco #3 please email Jennifer Vargas: jennifer.vargas@labs4rescue.org

Draco #3 is being fostered in Connecticut.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: We receive many questions about our adoption process from potential adopters, most of which can be answered by viewing our "Adopt a Lab" page on our full-service website, (https://labs4rescue.com/adopt).
