Dr. Rufus "Rufus" Bellum's Story

Rufus is currently living and training with his handlers at Beaumont Correctional Center.

Through a partnership with the Virginia Department of Corrections, Pixie's Pen Pals (a program of FETCH a Cure) places homeless dogs in the care of incarcerated people for dedicated, individualized training and socialization guided by canine behavior specialists.

The bio below was provided by his handlers at Beaumont Correctional:

Is there a doctor in the house? Why yes, there is... Please meet Dr. Rufus Bellum. If you're looking for an amazing friend and loyal companion, Rufus is your guy. Despite the fact that Rufus is only a puppy, still less than a year old, he has an "old soul" personality. Loaded with love and full of affection, Rufus is completely okay with curling up on his bed and relaxing or snuggling close to a friend and napping his day away. But don't forget, Rufus is a young pup so there's plenty of energy in his tank. He absolutely loves to run and play! Whether it is with another furry friend or alongside the playful personality of a child, Rufus gets along with everyone. He is extremely well tempered and has no problem sharing toys and responds great if you just feel like getting down on the floor and playing, Rufus is game! He's an amazing dog and will make a great addition to any family. If you're looking for a best friend or a new companion for yourself or a child, Rufus is your guy.
