Dozer is a pitbull terrier mix, not neutered but will be or we can assist in getting him neutered at a highly discounted rate if he can come to Middlebury.<br/><br/>Dozer has been with his family for about 6 months, they saved him from a bad situation. He has some anxiety and fear but has come a long way with the family who rescued him. <br/><br/>Dozer is nervous around rambunctious children, most likely he was hurt by children in the past, probably just on accident, parents often let kids run around, jump/fall on dogs, etc., and many dogs get very scared of being hurt over and over. Plus, loud screaming children running around can be very stressful dogs. <br/><br/>Dozer likes to act protective but is a big shy baby,and sometimes get the nervous or excited peeing. Often with young dogs this is normal. Or could be fear based. <br/><br/>Dozer is so smart and will thrive in the right environment. <br/><br/>We would live Dozer to find a stable and committed family that can focus on him as a family member and help him get over his fears and anxieties. Knowing he came from a home that was not a healthy environment we want to be sure he feels safe with his new family and home. <br/><br/>This is a rehoming situation, our standard adoption fee does not apply. We are working with the family to assist in finding the best forever home for Dozer and his fur brother Ace. We want to prevent him being shuffled around and would like any potential adopters to plan on at least a 2nd or 3rd meeting to take him home. Our rescue never let's dogs leave at the first meeting, this way everyone has time to make sure it's the right fit and the dog isn't having to leave with a complete stranger.
