Dov's Story

This sweetie pie is Dov! He's a happy-go-lucky little guy who is just about 1 year old and weighs 23 pounds. He has a beautiful shiny black coat that glistens in the sun. We think he's a small Lab mix although he's smaller and less rowdy than typical Labs can be. He's the perfect smaller sized pup for adopters who love the Lab breed but don't want a bigger dog,

Dov is really a charming boy...he loves everyone he meets and playing with other dogs. He's also fine with kitties! He's likes car rides and taking walks in the neighborhood and the best part of his day is playing in his Foster family's backyard! He's a happy guy and you can see him smiling in all his photos. You'll see his adorable photos the day he was helping his Foster Mom decorate the yard for Halloween! Dov is healthy, up to date on all his vaccinations, housebroken and crate trained too. He's so ready to find his loving forever family! We think he would love a doggie sibling but would do fine as a solo pup if there were dogs in the neighborhood for him to play with, We also think he'd love a fenced backyard, Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) to get lots more info on him!

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes. What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
